Cylinder-head replacement is a craft job — the casting has to be pressure-tested for cracks, decked back true on a milling machine, fitted with new valve stem seals, and torqued to the right stretch on new head bolts. Our Lenasia South yard at 666 Cromwell Street stocks bare castings for fitters who do their own machine work, plus full reconditioned heads with new valves, springs and a magnaflux certificate for workshops who want a drop-in unit. A bare Hyundai Getz spares head saves you significant cost over a complete engine swap, especially on a higher-mileage H1 OEM parts where the bottom-end is still healthy.

When a head won't cut it

Sometimes the right call is not a head but a complete short-block alternative — particularly on the Theta II 2.4 GDI where the recall mode is bottom-end bearing failure, or on a high-mileage D4CB CRDi where the cylinder walls have glazed. If the cambelt snap also damaged the bell-housing or the flywheel ring gear, ask us to quote our gearbox stock at the same time so you do one job, not two. And for any CRDi diesel head replacement, fixing the root cause matters — a collapsed turbo will burn the new head’s exhaust valves within months, so quote a matched turbo for the rebuild in the same order.
